You can email and fax the BLM’s Director of the Winnemucca district, Gene Seidlitz and politely ask him to cancel the proposed helicopter roundup at Jackson Mountain–during peak foaling season. Anne Novak, Executive Director of Protect Mustangs, has been on the phone with BLM National’s Senior Wild Horse and Burro Specialist Zachary Reichold who is in Winnemucca now and has let the Winnemucca Director, Gene Seidlitz know that we believe it is too risky to drive heavily pregnant mares with a helicopter. We are asking the BLM to not conduct the roundup and to truck out water and forage as needed to help the mustangs. Anne also talked with Ginger, from The Cloud Foundation, who has also been in phone meetings with BLM’s Winnemucca Director yesterday and today voicing their position against the cruel Jackson Mountain roundup.
People from various groups will be going to the roundup If BLM goes ahead with the roundup that will put pregnant mares at risk of aborting their foals and dying.
We need your help. If you want to go to the roundup to help be a witness and be the eyes and ears for the American public and your community, contact us (Contact@ProtectMustangs.org) to get information. We need as many people there as possible.
Please do not do a roundup during peak foaling season. It is too risky and would be cruel and unusual punishment. Please, please have a heart and postpone the roundup.
I may be interested in attending. I don’t have a 4 wheel drive tho and would need to ride with someone. When is this roundup set to take place if BLM won’t budge?
I just called the Department of Interior (202)-208-5694 (*office of policy is what the operator sent me to regarding the Secretary of Interior and the Office of BLM). The DOI will record the messages and complaints. I suggest that all information be thought of before making the call, because unless there is a way to contact the people in person the message will record the statement. Complaints regarding the Sec. of Interior and/or BLM will be recorded and not ignored. My next step is to contact persons (gov. offices) over the DOI. These complaints have to keep coming in regarding the abusive wasteful spending and the abusive treatment of the wild horses and burros. But, please remember to speak with respect and always with the idea that this is your gov. and it has to respect you also, as a citizen. Thank you.
I’ve been on the phone with Washington. Lengthy conversation with Debbie Collins. She said we all act like they don’t love the animals,,,cough cough cough. They absolutely do love the animals and will do anything they can within the law to help them…cough cough cough.
I explained the inherited traits passed through DNA and to a wild horse a helicopter is predator. She didn’t want to hear it and kept wanting to change the subject. I explained the problem at Jackson Mtn was caused by them and the cows. She said their main concern is the land. I explained the cows were over grazing and they wanted to blame it on the horses. Insanity!
She wasn’t aware of the fence across the Pryors…the list goes on. She said that keeps them from going where they can legally go. I asked if she’d explained the imaginary line to the horses so they knew where they could or could not go. Again change the subject.
I tried to explain that actions speak louder than words and they once again are ignoring the science i.e. Dr. Gus Cothran of Texas A & M’s recent report about the sizes of healthy breeding herds. She said they were unaware of this report and this Dr. Cothran. Dr. Cothran is one of the experts the BLM sends genetic samples to each year for study of the herds genetic viability. Again, ignoring the science. Even from their own experts.
Again today, several conversations and emailing of facts to the BLM. A lengthy commentary via email to the POTUS and a comment left with the White House comment line.
I think it’s time for a nap! Stupidity makes me tired.
I also called the white house and our government. They didn’t like what I had to say. I sent them a letter back in March. I will post it back on my FB. I asked them how it was the B.L.M. could get away with animal abuse plus A few more stuff. I got a letter back telling me that no such thing was going on. So yesterday I call both places again. Then I wrote another letter and sent some videos of the abuse. It wouldn’t let me send the bigger videos, more than likely to busy with killing people and our wolves and horses.You can look at all the videos I have and I will post that 1st letter I got. I ask them if we all had to gather arond these horses and become outlaws to save them.Sorry but it’s got to do with cattle rancher wanting more land to make more money and other stuff.Greedy people. Oh, by the way someone just told me that anything I send them or when they try to click on my stuff it disappears,so let me know if it happens to you.

I cannot believe that anyone would consider driving heavily pregnant mares or for that matter any horses with a helicopter. What is wrong with the people at BLM? Oh, that’s right, it’s all about protecting our public lands to provide range for cattle. This is an outrage but certainly business as usual. What do we have to do to stop this kind of injustice?
