BLM Utah to Host Resource Advisory Council Conference Call Meeting |

 (Photo © Cat Kindsfather, all rights reserved) The Bureau of Land Management’s (BLM) Utah Resource Advisory Council (RAC) will host a conference call meeting, Thursday, May 16, 2013, from 10:00 a.m. – noon, MST.
At the February meeting, the RAC formed a subgroup to explore constructive improvements to the BLM-Utah National Landscape Conservation System Strategy. The subgroup’s findings will be presented to the RAC during the conference call meeting on May 16. A public comment period will take place immediately following the presentation.
Those attending the meeting in person should meet at the BLM-Utah State Office, 440 West 200 South, Salt Lake City, Utah, in the Monument Conference Room on the fifth floor at 10:00 a.m. Public participants wishing to listen to the teleconference, orally present material during the teleconference, or submit written material for the council during the meeting should notify Sherry Foot, Special Programs Coordinator, Bureau of Land Management, Utah State Office, 440 West 200 South, Suite 500, Salt Lake City, Utah 84101; phone 801-539-4195; or, sfoot@blm.gov no later than 4:30 p.m., Friday, May 10, 2013.
The meeting is open to the public; however, transportation, lodging, and meals are the responsibility of the participating individuals. The conference call will be recorded for purposes of minute-taking.

| The BLM manages more than 245 million acres of public land, the most of any Federal agency. This land, known as the National System of Public Lands, is primarily located in 12 Western states, including Alaska. The BLM also administers 700 million acres of sub-surface mineral estate throughout the nation. In Fiscal Year (FY) 2011, recreational and other activities on BLM-managed land contributed more than $130 billion to the U.S. economy and supported more than 600,000 American jobs. The Bureau is also one of a handful of agencies that collects more revenue than it spends. In FY 2012, nearly $5.7 billion will be generated on lands managed by the BLM, which operates on a $1.1 billion budget. The BLM’s multiple-use mission is to sustain the health and productivity of the public lands for the use and enjoyment of present and future generations. The Bureau accomplishes this by managing such activities as outdoor recreation, livestock grazing, mineral development, and energy production, and by conserving natural, historical, cultural, and other resources on public lands. | ||||||
