Why are Sharon Stone, Dorian Brown & Tommy Flanagan starring in a film linked to horse slaughter pushers?

According to Variety, Running Wild tells the tale of a widow, Stella Davis, who saves her ranch by working with convicts to rehabilitate a herd of wild horses that have wandered onto her property. Sons of Anarchy star Tommy Flanagan has been recruited to play Ponytail John, the alpha male of the group of convicts, while Dorian Brown has been cast to play Stella. Sharon Stone will play Meredith, the movie’s main villain.

Do these actors starring in the film RUNNING WILD know that wild horses are underpopulated in the wild?  Do they understand how cruel and inhumane horse slaughter is?

Have they seen this?

Do these Hollywood actors realize they are being used by HORSE-SLAUGHTER Pushers like Dave Duquette and ESX Entertainment’s producer Forrest Lucas who are behind Protect the Harvest. That’s the HORSE SLAUGHTER non profit working to set up horse slaughter plants in the USA for domestic and wild horses.

Looking at the Wikipedia description of the film, “…widow Stella Davis, fighting to save her ranch from a herd of wild horses by working with convicts…” these actors must know what they are doing.

  1. This is ALL about painting the American Wild Horse in a negative light. Protect the Harvest (aka ESX Productions) wants to eradicate the Federally Protected Wild Horses completely to give cattle ranchers more control and clout. The only way the BLM is able to legally cooperate with corporate interests is by claiming the American Wild Horse is “overpopulating” the West. This is just another way for the smear campaign against wild horses to try to make its mark. The “problem” with wild horses is completely contrived to serve Big Ag and support Commercial Horse Slaughter in the U.S. which is completely inhumane. Wild, under-trained or untrained horses cannot be effectively stunned with the captive-bolt. These horses who end up at slaughter witness their own vivisection, producing massive amounts of adrenaline. This meat product is currently being fraudulently added to ground beef in the U.S.! Always look close and hard at people representing the animals they want to kill in films!

  2. This is disgusting…what a disgrace to have America n actors star I. Such a travesty. I can’t believe Sharon stone would knowingly participate in this.

  3. I am so happy they are doing this movie and I sincerely hope they don’t pull any punches as to how brutal horse slaughter is for the wild horses as well as unwanted domestic horses. Anyone who could buy horses for the slaughterhouses and treat them like they do on the road to slaughter are very cold heartless people. Some of them blind the horses to keep them still on the trucks, some of them stab the horses in the chest and the purpose of all this cruelty is to keep them calm? Really? Once they are loaded they get no feed or water on their way to their death. They are scared to death and anyone who fights for horses needs to see what happens if they are sincere about helping stop horse slaughter. no its not easy and it will upset you but they desperately need us to do all we can to help them because no one else will. Long may they run!!!

  4. This title of this film should be renamed “once they were Wild” or “now they are gone forevor”

  5. It’s all about money and connections. Pro slaughter groups have managed to get Hollywood to do their dirty work. Known actors who will play a part regardless of the truth are a disappointment.

  6. I will be tweeting all involved in ‘Protect the Harvest’ , how pathetic a bunch of aging, or questionable characters chosen to act in a pro slaughter film, expect the American People to accept this farce of a story to change the minds of those of us knowledgeable that there is no over population on the range, only that of greedy welfare ranchers wanting complete control of public lands for cattle and sheep. Dave Duquette is a split tongued white face that to date, has fooled the NW Indians into their land and is leading them against their own divine teachings, shame, shame, shame! Greed, money, and untruths and this will not proceed quietly from We the People on social media, and or to members of Congress. BAD MOJO

  7. Find it difficult to believe that a Hollywood film crew would be behind a movie like this . Very disappointed and disgusted ….. Shame on you Sharon Stone and the rest for being a part of this kind of crap !

  8. Frankly, very disgusting that Hollywood would promote such activity as Horse Slaughter — But films have been Boycotted in the past, and lost a lot of money. It is time to let them know the movie will be boycotted, and the set should be picketed outside all shoots to let the press know about Horse Slaughter and all of its disgusting methods, as well as the areas Horse Slaughter was previous located — and photos . . .

American’s are far more Humane than allow Horse Slaughter be made into something good for the country — IT IS SIMPLY NOT GOOD AND DIUSGUSTING IN TOTAL — AND THE PEOPLE THAT PROMOTE SUCH ACTIVITY EVEN MORE DISGUSTING!

  9. I am sorry to hesr this. Is there any way to petition them o it can not be made. I am afraidd this would be detrimental to our youth who will see it. Any adult that is slightly deranged also. I thonk it is impossible that thesr sctors do not know who they are working for. Why the shirts.?
Watching those horses suffer I was thinking maybe a copy should be sent to all the actors saying how disappointed we are in them.
Is it really going to show the terrible suffering of our horses or be sugar coated.
Either way it sounds sick to me. I want to know more and why?

  11. so many talented actors /actresses do good things for social justice issues—the word needs to reach these folks they missed the boat! We need some mentors to get up along side this crew and say hey—-get a clue! This needs to be posted far and wide—-we need to head off this production before ticket sales get underway and the public is sooooooo misinformed and more horses suffer!

  12. This is a disgusting and inhumane practice, not to mention totally unnecessary

This showcases our society as barbarians not civilized.

  13. Those participating in horse slaughter are sick and narcissistic individuals like those that heartlessly shoot up schools and movie theaters.

    They have no conscious.

  14. Sharon Stone is so beautiful in old movie and TV reruns. Could be she needs the work now, so is taking on stuff not equal to her talent. This is apparently a movie project a couple of steps below the worst of the worst.

  15. I would like to say I’m saddened by this news. The wild horses have enough enemies already. Strange name “Protect the Harvest” really says to me to only be protective for your own profit.

  16. They must be out of touch with the real world or they would not be participating in this lie. It is people like this that continue to contribute to the destruction of our wild horses and wild life.

  17. Amazing , just amazing. Protect the Harvest, loud voice for animal abuse and cruelty , backed by Lucas Oil. Doubt there will be any facts in this piece of drivel. Duquette is a sub standard person, his apathy is only outdone by his greed.
I guess Sharon Stone is a mindless hack.

  18. I have never been a big fan of Sharon Stone and I haven’t heard of either of the other two supposed movie stars. Sadly, it must be the only rolls they can find due to desperation, Unfortunately, thoughtlessness and ignorance of these 3 actors caused them to take the job; which is only imagine is going to make the 3 thought of as worse people than they already are instead of the possible potential they might have had. NEEDLESS TO SAY SHARON STONE AND OTHERS I WILL NOT ALONG WITH MANY OF MY FRIENDS WILL BE SEEING THIS MOVIE. Nobody with any compassion in the UNITED STATES wants see and in depth movie about the slaughter of horses. I guess people should see it for them selves but my imagination works just fine.

  19. Those of us who have been wild horse and burrow advocates for years still remember the truth behind the events leading to the capture and slaughter of the horses. There is no end to what people will do for money. This movie is no real surprise as there is money and politics involved in the safety of our wild mustangs. Protect the Harvest ( ESX Productions) wants to eradicate the Federally Protected horses.
Don’t be fooled it is our government, the now deceased Sue Wallis with her side kick Dave Duquette with United Horseman and their investors who want to cash out on the slaughter of our horses. Yes investors who wanted to slaughter horses for a delicacy for tables overseas. The Cattlemen Association wanted to use more and more of the horse’s protected land which the government (BLM) helped them obtain. Other companies simply are destroying the land that used to belong to the wild horses i.e… Wild Horse and Burro Free Roaming Act.
This movie is not an accurate portray of events. The movie will paint the wild horses in a problemson farce of destructive nature that is not true. The people behind this film are pro slaughter and this film is a precursor to a movement of slaughter and eating horses. I will not go see this movie and I feel we should boycott it.

  20. All the actors and the film makers need an education in whats going on in the real world and what is really happening out there, maybe then they would stop this and stand up, but until then I suggest we all boycott the film 100% and pass the word on to others. Peace James.

  21. Many humans in this world are a disgrace….For actors and actresses to be part of a movie that is in favor of this horrific treatment towards horses, or any animal is deplorable. This is an ”any way to make a buck” world, with no regard for human life, let alone animals….This is not a project to inform people of how horses are treated… In many ways, animals are more compassionate and humane than humans are…This is one of them…
