Secret documents from 2008 reveal plan to kill and dispose of America’s wild horses and burros

The Bureau of Land Management plots to wipe out wild horses and burros at taxpayer expense.  Is this how you want your tax dollars used?

“Jim says Burns takes them to a pit but they have always used it  . . .”

Notice that Pesticide PZP, made from slaughterhouse pig ovaries, is part of their wipe out plan. It sterilizes after multiple use. Their goal is zero population increase which would ruin natural selection and make it impossible for the species to survive climate change.

Members of the public and some organizations have been fooled into supporting Pesticide PZP as the “lesser of two evils”. Those who believe in the true spirit of the Wild and Free-Roaming Horses and Burros Act of 1971 are attacked for speaking out against Pesticide PZP.

Follow the money if you want to understand who profits from forcibly drugging wild mares with Pesticide PZP for population control. . .

The Humane Society of the United States (HSUS) is the registrant of Pesticide PZP https://www3.epa.gov/pesticides/chem_search/reg_actions/pending/fs_PC-176603_01-Jan-12.pdf. HSUS called native wild horses and burros “PESTS” on the EPA Pesticide Application. Have they changed the legal definition of wild horses and burros with the EPA application that should be revoked?

Scott Beckstead, who was born and raised on a working cattle ranch and now works for HSUS, reported at the BoLM’s Spring 2016 Wild Horse and Burro Advisory Board meeting that HSUS is experimenting on a stronger form of Pesticide PZP. Does “stronger” mean their new form of Pesticide PZP will forcibly sterilize native wild horses and burros with one injection?

Wild horses and burros are underpopulated on public land which is overpopulated by beef cattle and sheep. Ranchers, BoLM and others try to scapegoat wild horses and burros for range damage when the truth is commercial livestock is destroying, or already has destroyed, the ecosystem.

  1. I do not want my taxes supporting this…..
I do not support the killing and disposing of our wild horses.

  2. I do not want my taxes supporting this and we need board members who really care about these animals.. !.. This is inhumane.

  3. I do not want these horses and burro’s killed with my tax dollars and we need board members who actually care about these animals… stop lying..
Stop holding secret meetings and sending secret emails.

  4. They cannot be trusted —– they have not stopped just hiding waiting to attack again—always running forward at the extermination of our wild horses and burros. Behind the closed doors—decisions that will never get our horses safe—-using our tax dollars!

  5. I pay a lot of tax money on things I don’t agree with like welfare, and keeping prisoners that are doing life, school tax when I do not have children. I definitely do not want my tax money killing horses or burros. Those ranchers need to be stopped and we need new people in charge of the BLM.

  6. This is shocking and horriffic. The blm and other killers of mustangs and burros must be stopped. This is the same mo used by the nazis in ww2. Their actions are criminal and they must be punished. The horses and burros need to be returned to their homelands. That this can happen in plain sight in a supposed first world country is almost beyond belief.

  7. The BLM has a history of mismanagement and incompetence. New leadership is needed, and the leaders of the BLM need to stop acting like Nazis. The holding areas are nothing more than Nazi concentration camps, where the prisoners are killed and secretly disposed of in pits. The horses should roam free and not be encamped. The BLM’s master plan is to exterminate horses in America, and that violates the very laws and Acts of Congress passed to protect them.

  8. The Nazi/BLM machine…the epitome of lies, corruption, deceit and murder! And just the fact that these corrupt individuals are murdering OUR wildlife, to create a monopoly of OUR public lands for the benefit of the livestock industry and financing their dirty deeds with taxpayer dollars, is proof positive that our country is governed by criminals who cannot be trusted. A big “thank you” to Dr. Patricia Haight for acquiring this damning evidence against the within named corrupt individuals. Im keeping copies of all of it and hopefully everyone else will too.

  9. It is not ok with me that they are killing and disposing of our wild horses and burros, and it is not ok with me that they are using my tax money to fund it. The BLM obviously does not love the horses and burros, or have the species’ better interests in mind. They should be fired and the job of overseeing and caring for America’s wild horses and burros given to people who truly care about theses animals’ well-being!

  10. Our tax dollars should not be used to destroy wild horses and burros. The BLM needs to stop killing these protected animals to help ranchers who are feeding their livestock at the expense of these wild icons of the American West. Replace the BLM members with people who will develop fair and humane solutions.

  11. Why are rancher’s using public land to support their moneymaking enterprise in the first place??? Let them BUY land to support their cattle, sheep, etc. like everyone else does! Then the public land can be returned to the original tenants: the horses and burros!

  12. The BLM needs to be disbanded and a coalition of responsible wild horse groups put in its place – the ones who actually have the horses’ and burros’ interests at heart, in preserving them and creating a sanctuary for them, our own American icons. THIS IS WHAT THE AMERICAN PUBLIC WANTS. ON OUR PUBLIC LANDS. WITH OUR TAX DOLLARS.

NOT killing, in secret or otherwise.

    Got that?

  13. This is my tax paying money hard at work to support the cattle industry on public lands. What the hell is wrong with this country!!! Our government is run by complete inept people. Wild Horse and Burro Advisory Board members look to be unqualified to tie their own shoes let alone advise anyone! I will need to spread the word via the media in Los Angeles and NY. Let’s shed some real light on the ignorance of the BLM and Wild Horse and Burro Advisory Board members.

  14. I was shocked to read, “The Humane Society of the United States (HSUS) is the registrant of Pesticide PZP https://www3.epa.gov/pesticides/chem_search/reg_actions/pending/fs_PC-176603_01-Jan-12.pdf. HSUS called native wild horses and burros “PESTS” on the EPA Pesticide Application.” I have contacted the HSUS about this because as an organization committed to animal welfare, it is disturbing to read they are the registrant of Pesticide PZP, and that they reference wild horses and burros as pests! In my opinion, you cannot present yourselves as a fighter to save one animal, while fighting to kill another. PZP is also cruel to pigs since it is made from pig ovaries. Since the Humane Society is the registrant of Pesticide PZP, who makes this for them, and does this put HSUS in with one, or more, chemical companies? All of this deeply concerns me!

  15. I concur with Angela Rabon’s comment from September 19, 2016 at 4:12 pm. The stance and participation of the US Humane Society was jarring.

Horses and Burros played such an important role in the building of the U.S.A. Thankfully we don’t eat them. We need to honor and support them.

Keep the lands as dedicated for their use. Grow edible crops to wean U.S. from meat, which will be better for our overall health, decrease health care costs, and be beneficial in all phases of our lives and those who come after us.

  16. There are fifty thousand mustangs in feed lots or more. IT cost the tax payer five too seven dollars a day that totals to 350000 dollars a day . Lets get rid of them. this amount of of money could feed a lot of hungry people. In many countries people eat horse meat.

  17. Why are we supporting the ranchers with public land they get to use for free? Can I get a permit to use some for free? not likely!! Let them lease it, or buy their own!! We could use the money from the lease fees to support the horses.

  19. I have concerns about all the Wild Horse and Burro holding facilities and corrals.
There are not 44,000 horse and burros in BLM facilities.
The BLM has been killing horses and burros in holding facilities for a long time
There is called for a Congressional Investigation and Neil Krornzie will be at the top of the list and th the rest of the murders.
And the members of Congress and the House can be added to that list of murders.
Those members of Congress that are Livestock ranchers,Gas Drillers, Oil Drillers and that own mines this is what these Politician’s. are running these.business.when not in Washington. And born of a mining family as of Neil Krornzie the Direct of the BLM. Neil Krornzie is operating in business of mining while he sits the chair of the BLM Director.
These Politician’s were chosen by certain Organizations for one purpose to get rid of all of America’s Wild Horses and Burros for their own agendas and their own benefits.
They back and support Neil Krornzie and they are responsible for thousands of deaths of America’s Wild Horses and Burros.
The BLM are on the U.S Government payroll. They are Government Employees that get payed with are tax dollars.
They have broken the Federal Law that put place to protect America’s Wild Horses and Burros.
They are guilty for breaking and violating a Federal Law and have committed horrendous crimes against animals.

  20. There is a scientific study that proves something called (I believe it is called) natural selection. If a territory is reduced in size, a population will eventually stop reproducing at the same rate due to reduced food and water supply. By pulling 40,000 horses and burros off the plains, pastures, etc… you are actually creating more space for reproduction. You will never reduce the problem. Maybe it isn’t about killing, it is about education. Besides that if you were looking to adopt, creating public awareness may help. How about donating them to therapeutic facilities, or facilities that cater to the under privileged. You may be able to pay someone to break them to saddle and donate them for less money than it takes to euthanize and dispose or ship to slaughter.

  22. In response to Richard Crane’s comment copied below, what a short-sighted and despicable thing to say, complete with poor spelling and grammer, the hallmarks of an ignorant person. This is the mindset of someone who thinks the only life form of any value on earth is human beings. Nothing could be further from the truth, as Crane himself is living proof. First, Mr. Crane, if the horses were free, it wouldn’t cost taxpayers anything to maintain them. Alternatively, they would make wonderful projects for human-animal rehabilitation. Second, you are being screwed out of FAR more than $5-$7 per horse by what you are paying in taxes for the cattle ranchers to get their way. Third, I’d much prefer to pay for wild horses and the majesty and history they represent than people rooking the system for welfare fraud, Medicare fraud, and other HUMAN rip-offs, INCLUDING the cattle ranchers bogus use of OUR land.

So in your perverted mind, horses could feed a lot of hungry people – how about 8 billion people on this planet are FAR TOO MANY on a planet meant to sustain 2.5 billion, and they are destroying the planet by using up land and pushing off every other species. The horses – and other animals – have just as much a right to be here, and maybe more because they aren’t the destructive force that humans are.

    Shame on you.

  23. Clearly everyone has a good point, but name calling will not make a solution but everyone looking at why they are hear in the first place might give good insight and a better solution. The animals have been here for over 2 centuries now, yes the cattle included. We can thank the Marquis from Spain in the early 1700’s and yes there were those before him that brought them as well including an earlier Marque of the same family-https://tshaonline.org/handbook/online/articles/fag02 please read more on Texas history and get original document kept by Catholic Church. He let the animals all go wild so they would have the best of the best that would survive and use them as they needed to not have to wait for more supplies but simply collect them and domesticate them as needed. So clearly nature has the best plan with a little human intervention. As for hunger, natural local greens and veggies with fruits is ideal for humans with meat, and we really don’t need a lot of meat. That said the society of the USA needs to go back to what was intended and live more simple frugal lives and we like the animals would die off normally and live healthier lives with less greed and less negative circumstances. Live is precious and it affects the entire world. as a descendant of the Marquis and American citizen who is a descendant of many ethnic backgrounds I am compelled to write this, as no one ancestor is right but God but us here to take care of everything and do it fairly, well and with kindness and justice. Lastly all cities but towns too need to tax fairly for the care-taking of discarded animals for rehab and training to help humans, it can be done. Also animals can be used for food but again with dignity and respect.

  24. To Richard Crane’s comment regarding the number of mustangs and burros in lock up, and the cost to taxpayers. Mr. Crane, let me start by saying that the horses and burros would not be a taxpayer burden if the BLM had not unilaterally decided to round them up just because they wanted to kill them. That is why they are in lock up needing to be fed and watered daily. Had the BLM left these moving landmarks right where they had been living year after year, there would have been no problem and no cost to taxpayers. In addition, if the BLM had allowed Mrs. T. Boone Pickens to keep and oversee ALL of the 33,000 mustangs and burros in 2008 on 500,000 acres of federal land, where they have always lived, which would have been a sanctuary, we would not be having this conversation today. The BLM had options; they just chose badly. Especially where the wild horses and burros are concerned. The government clearly showed affection for farmers whose cattle was fighting for the same land as the horses, burros, and please do not forget the wolves, which have been the target of our federal and state governments for years! They have tried to wipe wolves off the map! But, these federal agencies allow the people they want to be on the land. If these people want to have more land for their cattle, they should buy it. I guess the farmers rent or lease the property, but if so, what do the farmers pay to rent or lease? Is it a comparable rate, or $1.00 an acre?? We have no way of knowing because there is no transparency. And, the way the BLM hates these animals, I do not put anything past them!

  25. Please protect these wild horses and burros. They have been here longer than us and deserve their rights. We are like the Nazis all over again!!

  26. I Do Not Want To See These Wild Horses And Burro’s Killed For NO Reason !!
They Helped Build Our Country Before Machines Could Do The Work. Horses also Fought in Our Wars with the Soldiers. These animals need to be catagorized as “Sentient” beings! Slaughter IS Animal Cruelty..IS NOT A Solution! The BLM has wasted? way too much Taxpayer Monet having the Round Ups & Holding Wild Animals in pens for years!! Many Die there. Also Many Foals are Seperated From Mothers & may not Live Thru the Roundup Process Or in the Pens. They are too young to be in that position!! This Organizations–BLM & DOI Have been Drinking
Crazy Water!! It is ALL Unjust, Cruel and Cost Taxpayers Way too much. Leave them Alone!! That what Federal lands were SUPPOSED to be for, NOT the Cattle!!

  27. This the most self centered move by this government! Have you lost your minds… we the people want these animals alive …. if you think you can pull this off without the states knowing you are mistaken….. And the states that are thinking of this I will help spread the word to boycott spending one cent in any approving state …..

  28. I agree that is so horrible and so sneaky on every thing they do .I sent an email to them this is how they repliedThank you for allowing BLM the opportunity to respond to your concerns. Please note the statement below:

“The National Wild Horse and Burro Advisory Board is an independent panel comprised of members of the public that make recommendations to the Bureau of Land Management regarding its management of wild horses and burros. The BLM is committed to having healthy horses on healthy range lands. We will continue to care for and seek good homes for animals that have been removed from the range. The BLM does not and will not euthanize healthy animals. The agency continues to seek new and better tools for managing the nation’s quickly expanding population of wild horses. There are nearly 70,000 horses on public lands in the West — three times the recommended level — and nearly 50,000 additional horses that have been removed from the range and are available for adoption. The cost of caring for each animal that goes unadopted can be nearly $50,000.

We encourage those who might be interested in adopting one of these incredible animals to call 866-468-7826.

In addition, we have posted the transcripts, video clips and other meeting materials from the Elko, NV, meeting to the following link: http://on.doi.gov/1JN50vd
If you are interested in reading the specific portion of the transcript that addresses the first recommendation, please start on page 35 of the Friday,September 9, transcript.
Just a big hunk of horse crap. I told them to have ranchers put cattle somewhere else AND QUIT KILLING THEM AND STERILIZING THEM.WE are not stupid and we will keep fighting for them. They need to fire and put people in there that has a heart and fire these ASSHOLES. I DONT FEEL BAD FOR SAYING THAT THEY ARE THINKING OF THEMSELVES AND SPECIAL PEOPLE SO IT WILL BE OIL PEOPLE , SLAUGHTERS , RANCHERS GET WHAT THEY WANT. I will never give up and I will keep sending letters and emails.

  29. PLEASE STOP THE BARBARIC TREATMENT OF THE WILD HORSES AND BURROS. THEY BELONG TO EVERY UNITED STATES CITIZEN. THEY ARE A PART OF OUR HERITAGE AND WE WANT THEM PROTECTED NOT SLAUGHTERED AND SOLD FOR CONSUMPTION AND DOG FOOD. YOU SHOULD. BE ASHAMED OF SUCH CRUEL BARBARIC TREATMENT OF THESE BEAUTIFUL ANIMALS.
    Mary Lou & Konrad Loesch
    11210 Charlie Dr.
    Bishopville, Md 21813

Citizens, registered voters and taxpayers and most of all HUMAN BEINGS. PLEASE STOP ACTING LIKE SAVAGES.

  30. Please protect our wild Mustangs and Burros. It is up to us to protect and save them.

  31. Stop the insane practice of killing these beautiful creatures. They have every right to survive they were here before we were.

  32. Stop the cruel and inhumane killing of our wild horses and burros. As taxpayers, we do not want out tax dollars used to kill these beautiful animals.

  33. Looks like BLM has a profitable money making scheme for quite some time. It appears they sell to Meat Market/Auctions to be shipped off since the US doesn’t slaughter horses for consumption. (Canada, Mexico and other foreign countries.) Or they give them to so called “rescues” who then sell them off to auctions. Seems no one can account for thousands of horses that simply dissappear at these so called rescues…like the one in Colorado. It seems some ranchers get rich being buddies with BLM. These animals are transported without food, bludgeoned or stabbed to death in stalls and no one cares since they are headed for slaughter.

  34. This is just another example of a sick secretive government. We should be as Americans running this government. But we are lolled into pacification. To exhaustion. we must work to survive. We must fight for the government we deserve. For our public land that we deserve. For our beautiful wild ones that are so important to our sanity. We must fight! We must demand a government that is for the people, by the people, of the people. God damn the rich that run our country! They are only out for themselves. They will kill everything they don’t care about including us! If you don’t believe this just look what we have put into the White House!

  35. Is this a practice run for human over population? Seriously this people are cold and heartless and are probably involved in much more horrible subject matter.

  36. I am so deeply distraught to think humans could be so callous toward the animals that helped build this country – the total lack of gratitude and respect breaks my heart, and causes me to feel so betrayed by the BLM intended to protect them by law – not systematically eliminate them. Public Lands are our natural hertiage, not for slae to corporate greed.

  37. This is the best “management” can come up with? And we’re paying people to come up with such irreverence? Perhaps the wages paid to these people who make these decisions should go instead towards the care of these so called unadoptables in a controlled sanctuary to live out their lives in peace. I realize that they are animals and not people, but this sounds very Secret-Service-Gestapo! Shame on BLM and anyone else profiteering from this slaughter!

  38. The true spirit of the WILD AND FREE-ROAMING HORSES AND BURROS ACT OF 1971 is one I truly believe in and fully agree with, and I do not believe there is an overpopulation problem. Oil, gas, and cattle grazing should not be getting consideration over our wild horses and burros, and money should not be the deciding factor.
Killing, or using Pesticide PZP on the wild horses and burros are cruel and inhumane and I strongly object to having my tax dollars used this way.

  39. Seeing a horse run free in a herd is just beautiful. They are a family. To just kill them off is just horrible and meaningless.

  40. I do not want my tax money going towards killing horses, donkeys, and burros..please use the.money on important causes….free lunches to poor children, wood stoves for elderly Native Americans, educating Native American children, educating young people on NOT turning to drugs, birth control to young girls etc

  41. Beauty, morality, logic aside, it costs us taxpayers freaking $millions in extra monies to “manage” OUR WILD HORSES & BURROS!
If any agency cannot properly steward these animals they should be penalized and relieved of their duties.

The white paper mentioned here shows that EPA dismisses the Federal Law as an inconvenience to their true agenda: eradicating wild horses & burros to leave Public Lands available to more “profitable” endeavors, such as cattle grazing and oil extraction via fracking.
It’s a well known myth that “overpopulation” is the problem; SHRINKING HABITAT is the problem! If these horses have been here for nearly 500 years, why are we fixing what ain’t broken?

Everyone here should be yelling at their representatives to act NOW!
